Satoshi Nakamoto is a mysterious Bitcoin creator whose identity remains unknown to this day. Since 2010 when everyone started wondering who he or she really was, there have been many various theories around it. Some even believed that this wasn’t a person in the first place.
There is still no definite answer to this question. In this article, we are going to touch upon several latest theories about the Bitcoin creator and who or what this can be.

As the search for the truth continues, one question that keeps Satoshi Nakamoto’s fans up at night is, “Is there actually a person behind this pseudonym?” The most likely answer is that it is a group of individuals or even an organization. Given the intricacies of Bitcoin code, the researchers have concluded that one person would not be able to pull it off.
Laszlo Heinitz, a legendary man, who bought pizza for 10,000 Bitcoins from Papa Johns back in 2010, believes that cryptocurrency code is too good to be created by one person alone.
Bruce Kleinman, the author of The Bitcoin Tutorial, expressed a similar opinion, claiming that one person would be unable to master such a high level of network architecture, cryptography, software architecture, and cybersecurity.
Nevertheless, the search for the Bitcoin inventor went on. In 2015, it was suggested that Satoshi was an American of Japanese descent whose real name was Dorian Satoshi Nakamoto. The man was over 60 years old when he was found in California.
The brother of the alleged cryptocurrency creator said that this man had been working on top-secret projects for many years; however, he was insane. So, there was no point in waiting for him to confess - he would deny it all.
It was later revealed that Dorian Satoshi Nakamoto did work on confidential projects of private companies and the United States Department of Defence before. He was both a physicist, a mathematician, and a computer engineer.
Gavin Andresen, one of the Bitcoin developers, who at one point was also believed to be the real Satoshi, confirmed the similarity of Dorian's features with the cryptocurrency’s inventor.
That being said, Dorian Satoshi Nakamoto himself denied all the rumors and said that he had never had anything to do with Bitcoin, whereof he had first heard in early 2014. Plus, he was unfamiliar with peer-to-peer technology, cryptography and alternative currencies.
Later, another theory around the Bitcoin creator’s identity came into the picture. Based on the findings of an investigation conducted by Wired and Gizmodo, on August 12, 2015, it was announced that Satoshi was Craig Stephen Wright, an Australian scientist and entrepreneur. Craig himself not only did not deny his involvement with Bitcoin, but did everything he possibly could to prove that he was indeed the creator of the world’s most important cryptocurrency.
The article by Wired also mentioned a forensic scientist named Dave Kleiman as Craig Wright’s partner. According to one of the first Bitcoin developers, Jeff Garzik, Dave Kleiman was the real Satoshi Nakamoto, not Wright. As evidence to back up his statement, Garzik mentioned that you could see the distinct style of self-taught Dave Kleiman in Bitcoin.
Later, both of these ideas were rejected, even though in his testimony under oath, Craig Stephen Wright admitted to have created Bitcoin. This has not not only raised doubts about the trueness of his confessions, but also put a big question mark over his mental health.

In 2013, researcher Sky Gray put forward another theory, naming Nick Szabo an alleged Bitcoin creator. Having analyzed the Bitcoin cryptography, he concluded that 0.1% of specialists can have this style which matched Szabo’s identity.
Interestingly, a few months before Bitcoin came along, Szabo had been looking for partners for Bit Gold, a project nobody really knows much about. Aside from that, Satoshi Nakamoto himself referred to Szabo’s works.
Later, a statement made on behalf of Satoshi on one of the Bitcoin forums said that cryptocurrency was created as a result of two projects, one of which was specifically Bit Gold. However, there is one flaw in this theory: Nick Szabo has repeatedly denied any involvement with Bitcoin.
James Bilal Khalid Caan from Pakistan is the latest one in the long list of people that were believed to be Satoshi Nakamoto. Khalid Caan is the son of the banker at United Bank Limited in Pakistan.
The bank’s founder has incorporated another financial institution called Bank of Credit and Commerce International (BCCI), which became the seventh largest private bank in the world. However, due to its involvement in money laundering and a number of scandals, including those associated with corruption, it was closed by the Bank of England in 1991.
The alleged Satoshi, James Bilal Khalid Caan, believed that the bank closure was unfair, which is why he “decided” to name the cryptocurrency after the Bank of Credit and Commerce International. He claims that he also came up with the name Satoshi Nakamoto using Chaldean numerology.
It is known that Caan had owned 980,000 BTC, storing the keys to it on his laptop’s hard drive. In 2010, it broke down and the alleged Satoshi lost access to his money for good.
There are plenty of other theories about who the real inventor of Bitcoin is. But none of them has been really confirmed so far.
Some believe that it is a good thing given the ever-growing popularity of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. Not knowing who gave rise to the new cryptocurrency reality, the world was able to avoid creation of a personality cult.
