In his recent Facebook post on February 19, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the launch of Meta Verified, a new blue badge for verified Instagram and Facebook accounts this weekend.

“The new feature will increase the authenticity and security of our services,” Zuckerberg mentioned.

The new addition for personal and professional accounts meets the platform’s requirements. Currently, business accounts cannot sign up for this blue checkmark feature.

Only Australians and New Zealanders can currently test out Meta Verified.

The subscription will include Instagram and Facebook accounts for $11.99 per month when the payment is made through the website and $14.99 when the purchase is made on iOS and Android platforms. No 30% Apple commission on in-app purchases will be charged for websites.

It should be noted that Meta won’t make any changes to older Green Tick verified accounts.

“In the long run, we intend to build a subscription service that everyone, including content creators, businesses, and the community, would benefit from,” the Meta CEO added.

In an earlier statement, Mark Zuckerberg shared that Meta was planning to launch a new product designed to expand the possibilities for content creators on the company's social media platforms, having warned about the expenses linked to content technology support for so many users today.

Previously, Meta, Snap, and Twitter expressed similar plans. In November, the social media owned by Elon Musk introduced the Twitter Blue subscription for $8-11 a month, causing an ambiguous reaction.
